CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL OF PITTSBURGH OF
UPMC
Hospital Now Provides Patients with a LodgeNetRX™ On
Demand Entertainment Package for a More Enjoyable Patient Experience
Deal Marks First LodgeNet Deployment in a Children’s
Hospital
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. and PITTSBURGH, Pa., September 18, 2007 – LodgeNet
Entertainment Corporation (Nasdaq: LNET) and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
of UPMC today announced the installation of a special, “kid friendly” LodgeNetRX
Interactive Patient Television System, the company’s first ever in a
children’s hospital. The hospital will deploy the LodgeNetRX television
system with an entertainment package including movies and games tailored especially
for children to provide a more enjoyable experience for the unique needs of
these patients. The system also includes other beneficial features found
on the LodgeNetRX system at other healthcare facilities such as hospital information
and patient education.
“The LodgeNetRX system is one way to keep patients entertained during
what can be a stressful time,” said Mark Giaquinto, Vice President of
Financial and Administrative Services at Children’s. “Our patients
will have entertaining options to help reduce the anxiety or boredom that sometimes
comes with a hospital stay. Children and their parents will be able to
select their favorite choices from a variety of entertainment options the system
offers, whether it’s watching movies or playing video games. The
parents can access pertinent information related to services at the hospital
including food service hours and menus, parking and daily activities. We
also have added a number of educational videos that can be viewed by either
the patients or the parents to assist with the patient’s disease or illness. We
plan on continuing to expand what we offer through the system in order to make
the stay here as stress-free as possible.”
“Children’s
Hospital of Pittsburgh continues to be at the forefront of innovative efforts
to increase patient satisfaction and improve the overall healthcare experience
for children,” said Gary Kolbeck, Vice President of Healthcare Business
Development for LodgeNet. “We admire the hospital’s forward
thinking by being the first children’s hospital in the U.S. to install
LodgeNetRX, which will add to the high quality of care for patients that Children’s
is known for.”
The deployment
represents significant momentum for the company as it expands its footprint
in the healthcare space and now in the children’s hospital sector. The
Children’s installation also underscores LodgeNetRX’s flexibility
to offer niche patient entertainment services, as it provides programming tailored
for children. LodgeNet’s support enhances the premier reputation of Children’s
Hospital, which has also been named to several elite lists of pediatric health
care facilities in addition to being named one of the best pediatric hospitals
in the United States.
